With the long weekend upon us, Durham Regional Police is reminding travellers to be cautious and drive safely while on our roads and highways.
To help keep unsafe vehicles and drivers off the road, DRPS, along with the Ontario Provincial Police, Whitby Fire, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Transportation, kicked off a safety initiative today in Whitby.
Officials from these organizations are conducting commercial vehicle inspections, targeting impaired drivers, agressive motorists, seatbelt infractions and automobiles carrying unsafe loads. DRPS will also be operating R.I.D.E. programs throughout the Durham Region all weekend long.
Don’t jeopardize your safety or the safety of your passengers and other vacationers. Be safe and obey all the rules of the road.
