Investigators from Project ISIS displayed millions of dollars worth of drugs, cash and property seized in the recent drug investigation.

The three-month long drug investigation, which began on the streets of Whitby led to the arrest of 12 people in the GTA and the seizure of almost $3 million in drugs, cash and property.

"This is an example of the quality of work that the Durham Regional Police has delivered on a consistent basis," said Det./Sgt. Mario Lessard. "Since January 2008, our Criminal Intelligence Branch has been responsible for seizing approximately $6 million in assets from the criminal element we arrest and prosecute."

Project ISIS was an initiative of the DRPS Criminal Intelligence Branch and was led by the Drug and Gang Enforcement Units. It targeted specific individuals involved in the sale and distribution of cocaine and other drugs in Durham Region, however, the investigation quickly branched into Toronto and York Region. Undercover police officers made multiple purchases of illegal drugs in various locations throughout the investigation.

A total of 12 people are now facing 90 charges and officers seized luxury vehicles, expensive jewellery and several residences.
