  DRP Appoints Chief for a Day

Ten-year-old Luke Stichhaller of Ajax has been chosen as this year’s Police Chief for a Day after a volunteer committee selected his essay on Friday, October 2, 2009.

Luke is a Grade 5 student from Dr. Roberta Bondar in Ajax. He will be picked up from his school in a police cruiser and sworn in as Chief for a Day on Monday, October 19th, 2009 at police headquarters in Whitby at 9:30 a.m. His ceremonial duties will include a tour of the building and an introduction to various police units.

Luke will receive a Durham Regional Police Chief’s uniform and a gift pack from the police service. On October 22nd 2009 Luke will attend the seventh annual Police Appreciation Dinner and Awards Night (PADAN), at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Hall in Ajax, where he will read his winning essay.

Members of the Media are invited to attend Headquarters on October 19th, 2009 to cover Chief for a Day activities.
