Durham Regional Police members from across the region joined Community Care Durham (CCD) volunteers today in recognizing Meals on Wheels Week. On October 7, officers helped volunteers deliver meals to members of our local communities.
Meals on Wheels provides nutritious hot and frozen meals to those who have difficulty preparing their own meals because of needs relating to age or physical disability. The service depends heavily on the support of local volunteers dedicated to helping people maintain their independence at home. DRPS is proud to assist with this invaluable community service.
CCD is a multi-service charitable organization that provides Home Support, Respite (Caregiver Relief) and COPE Mental Health services for adults and their caregivers who have needs related to physical disability, aging and/or mental health.
DRP Constable Daryl Rice joined volunteers Marg and Henk DeVries at Fairview Lodge in Whitby before heading out on the road to deliver hot meals. Officers from across Durham Region will partner with volunteers from various locations during this day-long event.
CCD is always looking for community volunteers, for more information please visit
