The first week of the Durham Regional Police Festive R.I.D.E. program got underway this past weekend and concentrated on Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa and Clarington.
Officers stopped 1,600 vehicles and 13 people were charged with drinking and driving offences. In an effort to help reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roadways, DRP will be releasing the names of those charged with Impaired and/or Exceed and/or Refuse during Festive R.I.D.E.
Also, with the new legislation in place, 17 people had their licences suspended for registering a “WARN” on the roadside screening device.
Let’s all work together to ensure Durham’s roadways stay safe throughout the holidays—reduce your speed, drive safe, and DO NOT drink and drive.
