A total of 66 motorists have been charged with drinking and driving and face 87 charges after only three weeks of the 2009/10 Festive R.I.D.E. program in Durham Region. The number is down five motorists from last year at this time.
A total of 5,700 vehicles have been stopped so far and 332 roadside breath tests have been conducted by police officers in various locations across Durham Region. In addition to the 66 Exceed, Impaired or Refused charges, officers have also seen 65 three, seven, or 30 day suspensions issued.
Durham Regional Police will continue to publish the names of those charged during the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign on our website.
Of the 29 motorists charged in week 3, the youngest was 19-years-old and the oldest was 66.
