ProAction Cops & Kids Charity Volleyball Game a Success

Mar 15, 2010 12:16 ET

Members of the DRPS took on students from G.L. Roberts high school in Oshawa in a recent volleyball game to help raise money for the 2010 Saturn summer youth camp.

Over 200 students bought tickets to watch the battle between our ProAction Cops & Kids police team and the senior and junior girls’ teams. The competition was stiff right from the start but with a little help from the umpire, our officers prevailed in both games, 26 - 24.

“This is a great way for us to interact with youth in a fun, positive setting,” said Constable Tracey Weightman. “As a bonus, we get to help send some kids to summer camp.”

Many thanks to ProAction Cops & Kids for helping make this game a great success.

Additional thank yous go out to the staff and students of G.L. Roberts and Constable Tracey Weightman for organizing the day. Any high schools in the Oshawa area that would be interested in challenging our police team, please contact Cst. Weightman at 3109@drps.ca.

Congratulations to everyone involved and DRPS can’t wait until the next match up.
