  Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Safely

Mar 16, 2010 10:52 ET

Enjoy St. Patrick’s Day the right way by ensuring Durham roadways are safe for everyone.

Arrange your transportation home prior to heading out for some green beer. Carry around emergency phone numbers and extra money in case you need to take a cab. If you have a cellphone and need a cab, calling #TAXI will connect you to a local cab company if you find yourself in a city other than your hometown.

Ensure you use taxis, designated drivers, local transit, limos or key services to arrive safely. An average of four people are killed and 207 are injured on Canadian roadways as a result of impaired driving, which are entirely preventable events if everyone makes safe and responsible decisions.

Durham Regional Police Service wishes everyone a happy St. Patrick’s Day!
