Members of the Durham Regional Police Service will be at two Boston Pizza restaurants in Durham Region on Wednesday, May 19, for a province-wide fundraiser in support of Special Olympics.
Local Boston Pizzas are participating in two fundraising drives to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which is the largest fundraiser for Special Olympics world-wide. During the month of May, the Durham Region restaurants invite their guests to donate a “toonie” for a paper torch that represents the “Flame of Hope”. Guests are asked to write their name or a motivational message to Special Olympics athletes on the torches and post them in the restaurant.
On May 19, uniform and civilian members from the D.R.P.S. will partner with servers, hosts and staff to serve meals at the Boston Pizza locations at 2372 Hwy. #2 in Bowmanville and 91 Taunton Rd. E. in Oshawa. Part proceeds from each meal will go to Special Olympics Ontario.
Supporters of athletes with intellectual disabilities can make a tax-deductible donation at any Boston Pizza in Durham or at any Durham Regional Police station. All proceeds generated will benefit Special Olympics Ontario, where program growth for the over 16,000 individuals now involved relies on donations.
We hope to see you there!
