  Welcoming Canada's Newest Citizens

Jul 02, 2010 08:32 ET

Durham Region is home to 49 brand-new Canadians.

On July 1, Canada Day, a special swearing-in ceremony was held at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT)/Durham College campus. The new citizens, hailing from Australia, Iran, Pakistan, India, Germany, China and several other countries, were granted official Canadian citizenship after taking an oath.

Chief Mike Ewles was on hand to welcome the new Canadian citizens to Durham, the region they will now call home.

The Durham Regional Police Service is committed to embracing diversity in our community. For more information, please visit the Diversity page of our website.
