On January 26, 2010 eighteen BlackBerry cellphones, which had been obtained fraudulently using the personal information of Identity theft victims, were delivered to an Ajax address.
The receiver of the cellphones was identified as 22-year- old Jermaine Vaughn GRANT, of Ellesmere Road in Toronto, and he was subsequently arrested by Fraud Unit officers and charged with Fraud Over $5,000, Attempt to Obstruct Justice, Obstruct Police, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Exceed $5,000 and Fraudulently Use Identity Information.
GRANT was released on bail and since his release, has breached a number of the conditions of his release. A warrant in the first instance was issued on August 30, 2010 for Breach of Recognizance x2.
