  Durham Regional Police Appoints New Chief

Ten-year-old Brittani Bourque of Ajax has been chosen as this year’s Police Chief for a Day after a volunteer committee selected her essay on Friday, October 1, 2010.

Brittani is a Grade 5 student from St. Bernadette Catholic School in Ajax. She will be sworn in as Chief for a Day on Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 at police headquarters in Whitby at 9:30 a.m. Her ceremonial duties will include a tour of the building and an introduction to various police units.

Brittani will receive a Durham Regional Police Chief’s uniform and a gift pack from the police service. On October 21, 2010 Brittani will attend the 8th annual Police Appreciation Dinner and Awards Night (PADAN) at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Hall in Ajax, where she will read her winning essay.

Members of the Media are invited to attend Headquarters on October 19th, 2010 to cover the Chief for a Day activities.
