The Auxiliary Unit Celebrates Another Successful Year!

Nov 08, 2010 15:09 ET

Members of our Auxiliary Unit recently celebrated another successful year at their annual Appreciation Night at Deer Creek in Ajax.

Inspector Charlie Green hosted the event at which several officers received five and ten-year awards. A special recognition was presented to Auxiliary Staff/Sergeant Steve McNenly, who after 12 years is stepping down due to the increased responsibilities in his position as Deputy Director of Durham Region EMS.

Auxiliary Constable Terry Belamy received the Auxiliary Officer of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the unit. Terry has donated over 160 hours so far this year at various police events, parades, traffic stops and searches.

The Auxiliary Unit currently has 70 members, who have collectively volunteered over 12,000 hours this year. Their unwavering support to the Durham Regional Police Service is truly amazing and a heart-felt thank you goes out to all the members.
