Youth in Policing Alumni Reach Out to the Community

Nov 30, 2010 08:54 ET

Over 30 past and present members of our Youth in Policing program recently organized a food drive to help feed those in need in our community.

“It speaks to the success of our Youth in Policing program when you see all of the alumni come together,” said Cst. Keith Richards. “The objective of the program is to teach youth how to make a difference in their community and that’s exactly what they’re doing.”

The team delivered a vanload of food to St. Vincent’s Kitchen in downtown Oshawa. This is just one of many initiatives the Youth in Policing alumni have undertaken such as a back to school backpack campaign, annual youth forum, junior leadership camp and community clean ups.

Next year’s Youth in Policing program will be accepting applications in March 2011. Please check our website for more details closer to the date.
