Officers Issue Tickets During "In The Zone" Campaign

Jan 10, 2011 12:20 ET

Over 1,200 tickets were issued around school zones last week as our back to school safety program called 'In The Zone' continues.

Thousands of children are now back to school after the holiday season and Durham Regional Police are once again nabbing aggressive drivers in school and community safety zones as part of our annual campaign.

Officers from Traffic Services teamed up with officers from local Divisions across Durham Region to enforce zero tolerance of infractions like speeding and unsafe lane changes at school crossings and community safety zones.

Members of Durham Regional Police are asking drivers to help keep our roadways, play areas, parks and school yards safe for children by reducing your speed in “zone” areas.

Our officers are back out this week to continue the safety campaign.
