A contingent of over 250 DRP officers and civilian members paid their last respects to fellow officer Sergeant Ryan Russell in Toronto. Sergeant Russell, an 11-year member of the service, was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 12 while responding to a report of a stolen snowplow.
Our members marched silently alongside thousands of police officers, paramedics, firefighters and members of the military as they filed into the Metro Convention Centre for the full police funeral. Members of the public lined the streets to show their support for the procession.
Sgt. Russell leaves behind his wife Christine and their two-year-old son Nolan.
