Officers from Central West Division recently faced some tough competition during the first annual Chili Cook Off hosted by The Court at Brooklin, an independent senior living facility.
DRP Insp. Eva Reti and S/Sgt. Bob Roche joined other teams from SNAP Whitby, the Horticultural Society and Shoeless Joe’s in an attempt to see who could take home the coveted Silver Ladle.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to build relationships in a fun way,” said Insp. Reti. “It allows us to open the lines of communication with seniors in our community so they feel more comfortable when dealing with the police.”
After residents and community partners sampled all the entries, the votes were in. The home team, The Court at Brooklin, walked away with the top prize. Not to be discouraged, Insp. Reti promised to return next year for another shot at the title.
