DRPS Showcases Portrait of Unidentified Woman

Jun 11, 2013 07:55 ET

DRPS homicide investigators are hoping new forensic artwork of a deceased female will help lead to her identification.

Officers, along with Forensic Artist Diana Trepkov, presented two-dimensional artwork of a woman found deceased in Clarington over four years ago.

On Friday November 26, 2006, officers located human remains in the area of South Service Road and Holt Road, near the Darlington Nuclear Station. An extensive search of the area concluded in November 2006.

In addition to the artwork, the investigative team presented photos of two artifacts that may be related to the case. They include a ladies gold ring and an OMNI digital watch. It’s believed the ring is from a jeweller in Oshawa, while the watch may have been sold through Consumers Distributing in the early 80s (see images below).

“We hope that someone in the community will look at this image and take the time to call us,” says Homicide Detective Chuck Nash. “We want to get the message out that all tips will be investigated.”

The woman is believed to be white between the ages of 18-30. Although the woman was found in Clarington, Detective Nash is also appealing to those outside Durham Region to come forward if they have any information.

Forensic Artist Diana Trepkov has worked on many cases in Canada and the U.S. and says there is a high success rate with two-dimensional reconstructions. “The skull doesn’t lie,” she says. “Especially when it comes to the teeth and the eyes. Many people are recognized from these features.” The only thing that the team is guessing about is the woman’s hair.

“Our team is determined to identify this woman; she deserves to be reunited with her family and they deserve closure,” says Detective Nash.

Anyone with information about the identification of this female is asked to contact Detective Chuck Nash at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5400 or Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
