  DRPS Helps Celebrate Tartan Day

Apr 07, 2011 08:12 ET

The DRPS was proud to join in the festivities on April 6th as the first Tartan Day was held in Port Perry.

Staff Inspector Brian Fazackerley, officer in charge of North Division for the DRPS, proudly played the drums as a procession of bagpipers and citizens of Scottish heritage wound their way through the downtown core.

The procession began in Palmer Park and marching through Port Perry's downtown before arriving at the Masonic Lodge on Queen Street for refreshments.

Tartan Day recognizes the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath, which gave Scotland its independence on April 6, 1320.
