Crime Stoppers recently held its annual appreciation luncheon to thank the local media for its support. Durham Regional Police Service was acknowledged, as well as many other media outlets in the area.
Crime Stoppers is partnered with the police, the media and the community and needs the support because it is a non-profit, non-police organization that pays for anonymous tips.
Since it was established in 1986, Crime Stoppers has received over 22,000 tips, made 3,217 arrests, laid 8,940 charges, cleared 3,080 cases, recovered over $6,700,000 in property and has seized more than $70,000,000 worth of drugs.
DRPS would like to congratulate Durham Regional Crime Stoppers for 25 years of great work in the community.
