In September 2010, the Durham Regional Police and Tim Hortons partnered up to host the 1st Annual Ontario Police Memorial Golf Tournament in support of officers who have died in the line of duty.
Almost 250 golfers hit the links at Deer Creek in Ajax, helping to raise $14,000 for the Ontario Police Memorial Foundation. The foundation was created to honour Ontario police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and they host a Ceremony of Remembrance at Queen’s Park on the first Sunday in May each year.
Last year's tournament was a huge success due to the overwhelming support from the community, businesses, police associations and golfers throughout all of Ontario.
This year, the tournament is scheduled for Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Deer Creek Golf Club, 2700 Audley Road North, Ajax Ontario. All five course have been booked this year to accommodate 360 golfers.
The cost for the tournament is $175 per person or $650 for a foursome. This includes your round of golf, a cart, entry into a hole-in-one contest, longest drive and closest to the pin contests, lunch after nine holes, a steak dinner, Nike golf shirt and hat and a bag of goodies courtesy of Sobey’s.
The event is open to police, civilians and members of the community. Payment is due in full this year and registration closes July 30th, 2011. Please visit the Ontario Police Memorial Golf Tournament website at ontpmgt.ca for more details, registration and sponsorships.
