Nov 14, 2011 11:29 ET

Congratulations to Auxiliary Const. Patrick Anderson who recently received the Auxiliary Officer of The Year Award for his contributions.

Aux/Cst. Anderson was presented with the award by Chief Constable Mike Ewles at the Annual Auxiliary Appreciation Dinner which took place at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility in Ajax. He joined the Auxiliary Unit in 2009 and has exceeded well over the 144 hours required per year.

Aux/Cst. Anderson was recognized for his consistent dedication, professionalism and ongoing commitment to the Auxiliary unit. He is described by his co-workers as a real gentleman who is always personable and courteous to the general public and police personnel.

D/Chief Burns, Chief Admin Officer Stan MacLellan, DRPS Board Vice Chair Allan Furlong, Insp. Charlie Green, Aux. Insp. Elborn, members of the Auxiliary unit and their spouses were all in attendance for the dinner.

A moment of remembrance was also observed for men and women in the armed forces currently serving and for those who lost their lives for our freedom.

The Auxiliary Unit members have collectively volunteered over 13,800 hours this year at 193 events throughout Durham Region. Their unwavering support to the Durham Regional Police Service is truly amazing and a heart-felt thank you goes out to all 70 members.
