Since the successful opening of the centralized fingerprinting centre at our Whitby police station in April 2011, public demand for the records counter at our Regional Headquarters has been drastically reduced.
As a result, effective Monday, February 6, 2012 the Regional Headquarters 3rd Floor Public Records Counter will be closed to the public. The main reception desk will remain open Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. however this counter is for administrative purposes only. Members of the public requiring Criminal Information Requests (CIRs), Freedom of Information requests, and Incident and Motor Vehicle Collision Report requests can still attend any DRPS Division with the exception of Regional Headquarters.
Citizens filling out routine background checks (formally known as Criminal Information Requests or CIRs) are encouraged to attend their closest police station. However, if an individual applying for a CIR has convictions or has previously been advised that they require fingerprints for Vulnerable Sector purposes, they are encouraged to attend the CIR Processing Centre which is located within the Central West Division at 480 Taunton Road East, Whitby. This location is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
