With recent mild winter temperatures across the region, residents are being reminded to avoid driving onto ice surfaces as they may be unstable.
The warning comes after a male driving a truck on Lake Scugog encountered a pressure crack and fell through the ice. The male had been out on the lake fishing when the incident happened.
No one was hurt during the incident; however the vehicle had to be recovered from the bottom of the lake. Last month a number of snowmobiles also went through the thin ice of Lake Scugog but luckily there were no serious injuries.
Police are reminding residents to avoid driving on frozen lakes and take care while snowmobiling, walking or skating on all waterways.
