Pride Week 2012 has officially kicked off with the 2nd annual Pride Parade taking place on June 10. Pride Durham is devoted to supporting the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Questioning (LGBTQ) community and DRP, a long-standing supporter, is excited to participate. Events will be running all week from June 4- June 10.
Chief Michael Ewles will be participating in the parade, joined by DRP members, volunteers and community partners. The parade will promote this year’s theme of “Putting the Unity in Community.”
The Pride Durham Cultural and Community Festival will take place on June 9 and will end with the Pride Parade on June 10 at the Oshawa Centre, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The route this year through Oshawa is bigger and better and will once again make history.
We invite everyone to come out and participate to help create acceptance and awareness in Durham Region. Other events throughout the week include a youth dance, community flag raisings, concerts, a speaker’s event and a gala dinner.
