This summer is expected to be a busy one for construction and DRPS is reminding motorists to have their patience in check this season.
Traffic Sergeant Shaun Arnott joined officials from the Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa at a Hard-Co construction site on Simcoe Street north recently, to speak about the importance of driving carefully in construction zones. “Motorists are encouraged to be mindful of construction zones and plan alternate routes accordingly this summer,” says Sgt. Arnott. “Fines are doubled in construction zones and speeding through these areas can put the construction workers at risk.”
The Region of Durham is working hard to keep construction zones safe and reminds residents not to move or obstruct barriers or pylons as they are there for a reason. It’s particularly important to have these barriers up at night when there are no workers present.
The summer construction will be particularly heavy for the City of Oshawa and Craig Kelly with the city is thanking residents for their ongoing patience.
