A seven-month joint drug trafficking investigation dubbed “Project Kingfisher” lead by the DRP Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit has concluded with multiple search warrants and arrests.
The DRP Gun and Gang Enforcement Unit working in partnership with the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police-Biker Enforcement Unit concluded Project Kingfisher with the execution of 28 search warrants across the GTA.
Residential search warrant locations included 12 in Durham; eight in Peterborough; five in Toronto; two in Hamilton and one in Lindsay. Officers were assisted by members of Toronto, Peel, Kawartha Lakes and Hamilton Police Services during the warrant processes.
Twenty-nine people were arrested without incident and are being held for bail hearings, facing a total of 162 criminal charges. Of those arrested, one is a full member of the Hell's Angels and two are prospect members. A full list of charges is attached.
Investigators seized two loaded handguns; a large quantity of cocaine, heroin and marihuana, with a street value of over $430,000; a large quantity of cash and ten vehicles.
