Clarington Officers Help Take Back the Night

Sep 19, 2012 11:08 ET

Clarington Divisional Inspector Rolf Kluem, Staff Sergeant Sean Fitzgerald, Senior's Co-ordinator Sgt. John Keating and several other DRPS members joined dozens of citizens in downtown Bowmanville Tuesday night for the Take Back the Night march.

Organized by Bethesda House, a local shelter for abused women, the Clarington march is part of an international movement aimed at raising awareness about sexual violence and the right of all citizens, especially women, to live without fear in their communities.

Clarington Fire Services Chief Gord Weir and members of his department, as well as local RCMP officers and other community members participated in the procession, which was led by a fire truck and police cruiser escort through the downtown core of Bowmanville.
