Members of DRPS and Tim Hortons presented a cheque for $35,500 to the Ontario Police Memorial Foundation at Regional Headquarters Monday.
The money was raised during the 3rd Annual Ontario Police Memorial Golf Tournament held at Deer Creek this past August. Members of the community and beyond picked up their golf clubs, and their wallets, in support of the fundraiser which was hosted by DRPS and Tim Hortons.
This was a record year for the tournament raising $35,500 from the event, up from $28,000 last year.
The foundation was created to honour Ontario police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and a Ceremony of Remembrance is held at Queen’s Park each year on the first Sunday in May.
Mike Abbott from the Toronto Police Association thanked DRPS and members of Tim Hortons who worked so hard to make this event happen. DRP Detective Constable Terry Rayner was also thankful for everyone’s generosity and is pleased to see the event continue to grow each year.
Special thanks go out to Tim Hortons Markham franchisee and co-organizer Wendy Brown and Durham Region Tim Hortons franchisee Heather King, along with co-organizer Detective Constable Terry Rayner Detective Constable Ryan Rayner and civilian Kim Hook for all their hard work and dedication to bring this tournament to fruition. Also, without the support of all of the corporate sponsors and team of volunteers, the tournament would not have been the great success that it was.
If you are interested in being a corporate sponsor or would like to find out more about the tournament, please contact Terry Rayner at email@example.com.
