Oct 30, 2012 10:28 ET

Congratulations to Aux/Cst. Tracy Matusiak who recently received the Auxiliary Officer of The Year Award for her contributions.

Aux/Cst. Matusiak was presented with the award by Chief Constable Mike Ewles and Auxiliary Inspector Louise Elborn at the Annual Auxiliary Appreciation Dinner which took place at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility in Ajax. She joined the Auxiliary Unit in 2007 and has exceeded well over the required144 hours per year, each and every year since joining the unit. So far this year, Tracy has performed just under 200 hours and the Auxiliary Unit is coming into their busy season with Remembrance Day ceremonies and Santa Clause parades.

Aux/Cst. Matusiak was recognized for her dedication, professional demeanour and positive attitude. She goes above and beyond, showing up early and staying late at various events and is a go-to member of the team. Aux/Cst. Matusiak is an excellent role model and the Service appreciates the time and effort she puts forth representing DRP in the community.

D/Chief Burns, DRPS Board Vice Chair Allan Furlong, members of the Auxiliary unit and their guests were also in attendance for the dinner.

The Auxiliary Unit members have collectively volunteered over 12,000 hours this year at 191 events throughout Durham Region. Their unwavering support to the Durham Regional Police Service is truly amazing and a heart-felt thank you goes out to all 70 members.
