Durham Regional Police Deputy Chief Scott Burns, Inspector Eva Reti, Detective Sergeant Phil Lillie, Sergeant Stan Piersma and Constable Paul Hawrychuk recognized some of the dedicated citizens who contribute their time and talents as DRPS volunteers at a recent appreciation dinner.
Approximately 40 volunteers were recognized for their commitment to DRP, from one year to as high as 23 years of service to policing programs such as Racing Against Drugs, the Food and Toy Drive, Police Week, Crime Prevention Week and a variety of other service initiatives.
Deputy Chief Burns thanked all of the volunteers for the time and dedication stating our officers wouldn’t be able to do their jobs every day without the assistance of volunteer citizens. "We truly appreciate the work you provide every day." he said.
Two-year volunteer Vanessa Micieli was presented with the Volunteer of Year Award for going above and beyond the allotted eight hours a month volunteers are required to put in. “Vanessa will sometimes put in 40 hours a week when we need her, “ said Community Services Constable Paul Hawrychuk. “We can’t thank her enough for how much time she has dedicated to our community.”
Congratulations to all our volunteers and thank you for your ongoing commitment to the community.
