  Protect Your Equipment

Jan 07, 2013 11:27 ET

Skis and snowboards are easy targets for thieves at ski hills as people are constantly dropping off and picking up their equipment. If you head into the lodge to warm up and leave your equipment unlocked, a theft can happen in a matter of seconds.

Help to safeguard your equipment by following our tips:
• Never leave your equipment unattended or out of sight. If you do, ensure it is locked up.
• Mark your skis or snowboards with some sort of identification so you can prove the equipment is your if it is recovered.
• Make sure you write down the make, model and serial number of your items. The police will need this information if it is stolen.
• Bring only what items you need to the ski hill and ensure items that are left in your vehicle or locker are secured.

If you witness a crime, dial 911 immediately. If you realize your equipment has been stolen, contact police on the non-emergency line at 1-888-579-1520 and notify the ski resort staff.
