DRP Officer - A Local Hero

Mar 07, 2013 14:17 ET

Cst. Keith Richards was honoured as a local hero by Trent University’s Black History Organizing Committee at their “Still I Rise! Celebrating Humanity” event on Mar. 1.

“It’s an honour to receive this recognition from the student body as one of my goals throughout my career has been to reach out to the youth in our community,” said Cst. Richards. “This helps prove to me that I just may have been able to inspire the youth in our region and that makes me extremely proud.”

During his 22 years at DRP, Cst. Richards has worked at our East Division on Platoon and in the Community Resource Unit, as well as being the first member of our DRP Diversity & Inclusivity Unit. He is currently the Acting Sergeant of our Recruiting Unit.

The event was hosted by Trent University’s students, faculty and staff in their third celebration of Black History Month. It was created to generate dialogue, highlights achievements and share information and opportunities in the community.

Congratulations to Cst. Richards on his recognition!
