March Madness at the Kids’ Safety Village

Mar 14, 2013 14:41 ET

Hundreds of Durham Region families came to the Kids’ Safety Village today in Whitby to enjoy some free activities and learn about safety too.

Co-ordinated by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) as a part of its March Break Madness series of events, families were able to explore the kid-sized neighbourhood and take part in games, activities and crafts.

A popular activity involved road safety: kids could ride a battery-operated four-wheeler through the mini-streets of the Kids’ Safety Village, all the while learning about traffic signals. Bike, train and water safety were also taught through hands-on activities.

OPG, DRPS, GO Transit and Whitby Fire were all involved in this fun and educational event.

If you missed this exciting day at the Village, mark your calendar for Saturday, March 30! From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Kids’ Safety Village will be hosting the Easter Eggstravaganza. This free event will feature many activities, including an Easter egg hunt, balloons and face painting
