  Pride in the Durham Region

Jun 10, 2013 21:28 ET

Pride Week in Durham Region wrapped up on June 9 with the third annual Pride Parade. DRP members once again showed their support for the local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer (LGBTQ) community as the rainbow decaled police cruiser was out participating in the celebrations.

Chief Mike Ewles along with other DRPS members were on hand for the event held in downtown Oshawa.

The festivities began May 31 with a kick-off party, and featured other activities throughout the week, such as a movie night, dance party, concert, laser tag and more before culminating in the parade.

Pride Week is aimed at creating more acceptance and awareness for the LGBTQ community in the Durham Region, and is organized by not-for-profit organization Pride Durham. For more information on Pride Durham, visit www.pridedurham.com
