In Jan. 2011, officers located and pursued a stolen snowmobile in north Bowmanville. The driver dumped the vehicle and fled the area on foot. We attended the area and tracked the suspect for over seven kms, with the assistance of two other canine members acting as cover officers. The male was located by Blitz hiding under a large tree and he attempted to flee. Blitz was released and the male was apprehended, resulting in a safe and prompt arrest. The suspect was later connected and charged for approximately 20 past break and enters in the area. Prior to going to jail, the arrested party, a dog lover himself, requested to meet Blitz stating, “That is one awesome Police Dog.”

A second incident occurred in May of 2013 when Blitz attended the area after plain clothes officers attempted to arrest a male wanted on numerous outstanding warrants. The male had successfully fled from police numerous times in the past. Once again the male attempted to flee the area with officers in pursuit. With the assistance of a strong uniform containment and Air 1, we tracked the male to backyard where he was located hiding behind a shed. Blitz was deployed and the e suspect slammed him into a parked car, managing to evade an arrest. But Blitz was persistent and the male was located and arrested. It was later learned that while hiding in the garden shed, the male dumped gasoline and paint on himself in an attempt to mask his scent from Blitz.

5. What about some fun facts about Blitz?
