If you’re in Grade 5, we have the opportunity of a lifetime for you!
All Grade 5 students in Durham Region are invited to participate in our annual Chief for a Day contest. Students must write an essay detailing what they would do to make a difference in their community if they were police officers.
The winner gets a custom-made Chief’s uniform, a ride in the DRPS helicopter Air 1 and a tour of other specialty units at DRP. The lucky student will also attend the 11th Annual Police Appreciation Dinner and Awards Night to present their winning essay to more than 600 people.
If you want a chance to experience this amazing day, ask your teacher for details. Each school board will have their own deadline, so make sure to check as soon as you can as the finalists will read their essays on September 27 at the Durham Regional Police headquarters in Whitby.
