Durham Regional Police members will be participating in two community events this Saturday in Oshawa and Whitby.
In Oshawa, Crime Prevention Co-ordinator Cst. Paul Hawrychuk and DRP volunteers will team up with Shred-it to help you dispose of old paper receipts in a safe and secure manner. In return for a small donation to the Law Enforcement Torch Run, you can bring a box full of old receipts, paid invoices, expired insurance statements and other personal papers, and have them shredded before your eyes. Unfortunately at this time, Shred-it will not be accepting any discs, CDs or DVDs. Our team will be at Lakeview Park in Oshawa on October 26, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa will also be at the event, accepting household hazardous waste and electronic waste.
The second event on Saturday is our Annual Halloween Haunt at the Kids’ Safety Village. This will be a spooktacular evening of fun and trick or treating for kids.
The event will host trick or treat stations, a ghost walk, a haunted house, a mad scientist lab, a torture chamber, along with other ghastly surprises. Non-perishable donations will be accepted and food and refreshments will be available for a minimal charge.
Join us at the village, 1129 Athol St. in Whitby, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
We hope to see you there!
