Do you have a box full of old paper receipts in your basement? Do you want to get rid of them in a safe and secure manner?
Then dont forget to join us Saturday, October 26, from 8 a.m. 12 p.m. at Lakeview Park in Oshawa. We are teaming up with Shred-it to help prevent identity theft. Shredding your documents stops thieves from stealing your personal information if they break into your home or go through your recycling box.
In return for a small donation to the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, you can bring old receipts, paid invoices, expired insurance statements and other personal papers and have them shredded before your eyes.
Our Crime Prevention Co-ordinator Cst. Paul Hawrychuk, and a team of volunteers, will also be on hand to meet residents and answer any questions you may have about identity theft and how quickly someone can steal your identity.
The Region of Durham and the City of Oshawa will also be at the event, accepting household hazardous waste and electronic waste.
We will be there, rain or shine, so come out and dispose of your papers safely.
