Celebrating Our Auxiliary Unit and Auxiliary Officer of the Year

Nov 12, 2013 08:02 ET

Congratulations to Aux/Cst. Kelly Patterson who recently received the Auxiliary Officer of The Year Award for her contributions.

Aux/Cst. Patterson was presented with the award by Chief Constable Mike Ewles and Auxiliary Inspector Louise Elborn at the Annual Auxiliary Appreciation Dinner which took place at Deer Creek Golf and Banquet Facility in Ajax. She was chosen for her dedication to the unit and her mentorship of new recruits. The award was created in memory of Sharon Boudrey, a founding member who had passed away.

Chief Ewles was joined by Deputy Chief Scott Burns, Superintendent Greg Mills, Police Services Board members John Henry and Bill McLean and DRPA President Randy Henning to show their appreciation for all the Auxiliary Unit does for the community.

The Auxiliary Unit members have collectively volunteered more than 17,500 hours this year at 138 events throughout Durham Region, and the unit is coming into their busy season with Remembrance Day ceremonies and Santa Clause parades.

Their unwavering support to the Durham Regional Police Service is truly amazing and a heart-felt thank you goes out to all 68 members.
