Officers Spread Some Holiday Cheer to Seniors

Dec 11, 2013 09:02 ET

The fourth annual DRPS Senior’s Christmas outreach program began today, spreading holiday cheer throughout the region.

On December 10, 2013, officers and civilians from West Division, as well as Chief Constable Mike Ewles, visited Bay Ridges Long Term Care Centre in Pickering. The seniors sang along to Christmas tunes by Cst. Scott Dargie, who was also accompanied by Santa himself! And even K-9 Ozzy paid a visit with his handler D/Cst. Jim Stephenson.

At each Senior’s Christmas event, officers will bring gifts and will spend time chatting with residents of long-term care homes. (See dates and locations below.) Many seniors are alone during the holidays and front-line DRP officers want to remind them they are valued and important members of our community.
