As many people in Durham Region prepare to celebrate the biggest night in U.S. football, the DRPS is preparing to run a R.I.D.E. initiative to keep our streets safe from impaired drivers.
On Sunday, February 2, 2014, officers from the Traffic Services Branch, as well as from various divisions, will be conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks to coincide with Super Bowl Sunday. All motorists who intend to consume alcohol during the festivities are reminded to do so responsibly.
Durham Regional Police would like to advise all motorists that drinking and driving will not be tolerated on our streets. Please plan ahead and choose another option to get home safely, such as public transit, taxi or designated driver, or make arrangements to stay overnight.
The DRPS conducts R.I.D.E. spot checks throughout the year.
