  Walking for a Cause

Feb 26, 2014 11:43 ET

A team of Youth In Policing students from DRPS took a 10-km walk through Oshawa to raise money for The Refuge, a shelter for homeless and street youth. The event, called Coldest Night of the Year and held on February 22, also aimed to increase community awareness of homelessness in Durham Region.

Our 84 students have been raising money on their own time by hosting bake sales and dress down days at their schools, and by collecting donations from friends and family. The team raised more than $6,600 for The Refuge and they were enthusiastic participants in the event.

Congratulations to our Youth In Policing students for their contribution to such a great cause!
