Victim Services of Durham Region, a community based, not-for-profit program funded by the Government of Ontario, recognizes the importance of all victims, witnesses and their families being treated with compassion, respect and having access to the services that they need, when they need it most.

Working in partnership with the Durham Regional Police Service since 1998, Victim Services of Durham Region currently offers four programs to meet the immediate emotional and practical needs of victims and their families within the Durham Region.

Services offered through Victim Services of Durham Region include:

• VCARS - 24/7 On-Scene Support *Based on Police Referral*
With the assistance of a team of well-trained community volunteers, victims and/or their families have 24/7 access to *police referred on-scene and telephone support.

Victims who consent to a Volunteer Crisis Responder Team will be provided with emotional support and practical assistance and will receive appropriate community referrals to obtain long-term support.

Interested in volunteering with Victim Services of Durham Region? Please visit ‘Items of Interest’ for more information on becoming a Volunteer Crisis Responder or a Volunteer on our Board of Directors.

Victim Support Worker’s provide supportive outreach services to ALL victims and their families following any type of crime or tragic circumstance.
