As a reminder to motorists, as of March 18, the fine for distracted driving will increase to $280, from $155, in the hopes of deterring dangerous driving on our roadways.
Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of collisions on our roadways. All drivers are encouraged to abide by this law and not use these electronic devices while driving. Roadway safety continues to be a top priority of the Durham Regional Police and, as a result, the offences relating to distracted driving will be strictly enforced.
Durham Regional Police would like to remind all motorists to drive with respect and obey all rules of the road. No call, text or email is worth anyone's life.
