The DRPS Kids' Safety Village was full of hopping good fun today at the Easter Eggstravaganza. Hundreds of families enjoyed the sunny weather and all the great activities (not to mention the chocolate).
Kids could participate in an Easter egg hunt, soccer and egg toss events. There was also a balloon fun area and face painting. Whitby Fire was on hand to talk fire safety and let the kids sit in a fire truck. Officer Astrid, Neighbourhood Watch and GO Transit was also there to get the kids excited about community and railway safety.
The Kids Safety Village is a miniature neighbourhood that helps children learn about street safety in a controlled, supervised environment.
The event was free, but organizers asked families to bring donations of non-perishable food items for local food banks.
The next fun, free event at the Kids' Safety Village is the Bicycle Fun and Safety Day on May 31 from noon until 3 p.m.
