  Fraud Awareness Night in Cannington

Apr 28, 2014 11:07 ET

Hundreds of people across Durham Region and the GTA are targeted by clever and unscrupulous fraudsters every week. Whether by phone, email, or at the door, fraudsters are looking to benefit at the expense of trusting citizens. Many residents of North Durham have been victimized, losing hundreds, or in some cases thousands of dollars, or having their personal identity compromised.

The Cannington Neighbourhood Watch is hosting a free Fraud Awareness Information Night on Tuesday April 29, 2014 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Trinity United Church. The goal of this training is to equip members of the community with a greater awareness of the kinds of frauds and scams that are being perpetrated in Durham Region at this time.

This is your opportunity to come out and learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones from becoming a victim of fraud, and also to learn more about local safety programs such as Road Watch and Neighbourhood Watch. There is no cost, and pre-registration is not required. Be wise – don’t get scammed – be informed!
