Walking A Mile to Send a Message

Jun 14, 2014 16:10 ET

Several men from the DRPS proudly donned bright red women's shoes and walked with other community leaders in downtown Bowmanville on Saturday in support of Bethesda House, a shelter for women.

The annual Walk a Mile In Her Shoes event took place during the annual downtown Fabulous Fifties Festival. Participating for the DRP were Deputy Chief Scott Burns, East Division Inspector Rolf Kluem, C.A.O. Stan MacLellan, Sgt. John Keating and frontline officer Cst. Darryl Rice.

They were joined by local firefighters and other men from the community. It's a way for men from all walks of life to make a statement that domestic violence will not be tolerated in Durham Region.
