DRPS Engages Youth at Soccer Clinics

Oct 10, 2014 07:23 ET

Durham Regional Police and UOIT Ridgebacks are hosting two youth-based soccer clinics October 11 and 12, 2014 with the support of Proaction Cops and Kids. This year marks the second annual for the event, and organizers are hoping to build on last year's success.

The free clinics are for youth aged 7-12 and each session can accommodate up to 80 participants. Various soccer activities headed by UOIT soccer players, coaches and DRPS members will be taking place from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Oshawa Civic Fields. Transportation provided on Saturday only, October 11, from White Oaks Court. A bus will pick all youth up at 7:15 a.m. and depart Oshawa Civic Fields at 2 p.m. after the UOIT women's game.

The day will involve a number of skills training drills aimed at developing each participant’s skills and furthering their knowledge of soccer. A pizza lunch will be provided for all participants and they are invited to watch the UOIT Women’s Varsity game at noon.

ProAction Cops and Kids believes that establishing a positive relationship between cops and kids will strengthen our community today and in the future. By funding programs that bring local cops and kids together, Proaction Cops and Kids help create an environment of mutual understanding and respect.
