DRPS Supports Special Olympics Initiative In Oshawa

Nov 05, 2014 13:21 ET

Sgt. Shaun Arnott was on hand as the City of Oshawa was named host of the 2015 Ontario Provincial School Championships.

A long-time supporter of Special Olympics, Sgt. Arnott brought greetings on behalf of DRPS as the announcement was made at the Oshawa Civic Auditorium. Local athletes, CEO of Special Olympics Ontario, Glenn MacDonell; Oshawa Mayor, John Henry; and representatives from Durham College and Durham Transit were also there to support the initiative.

The Provincial School Championships provide youth with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to experience the joy of competing in a province-wide athletic competition. From May 25-27, 2015, high school students will take part in bocce, basketball, soccer and other sporting events at the Oshawa Civic and Durham College.

DRPS is a proud supporter of Special Olympics and wishes our local athletes all the best in their competitions.
